NEWSFLASH! CHANGE IN VENUE FOR WAFS MONTHLY MEETINGS! STARTING IN JUNE (28) the monthly meetings will be at the old Southern Railway Train Depot located on Cherry Street in historic, downtown North Wilkesboro, NC, 7pm.

June 12, the induction ceremony for the 2010 Blue Ridge Music Hall of Fame inductees was held at the John A. Walker Center in Wilkesboro, NC. If you were unable to attend you missed a heart felt, down home, music lovin' good time. Tom Ashley, Etta Baker, Albert Hash, Bobby Hicks, Don Reno, and William 'B' Townes were inducted. Visit the Hall of Fame at the Wilkes Heritage Museum located on Main Street in Wilkesboro, NC.

Welcome to the Wilkes Acoustic Folk Society (WAFS) web site. Founded in 2000, WAFS is a 501(c)(3)non-profit organization focused on nurturing musical appreciation and talent.

Our mission is the enjoyment, perpetuation and encouragement of all varieties of acoustic music. Our objectives include but are not limited to educating the public in music appreciation and forms of self entertainment, sharing of musical ideas, venues, performing, passing down, and preserving this region's musical heritage for our youth, and just plain fun.
